Notes
The Virginia Journal of International Law has approximately four Notes Pools each year. We will consider any Note related to international law that was written while the author was a student. While we prefer to consider your Note in one of our Notes Pools, we will try to accommodate requests for an expedited review if a Note has been extended an offer of publication with another Journal.
Students who would like their Note to be considered for publication should meet these requirements:
- Submit a copy of your piece.
- For UVA students only, your name should not appear on the work.
- Please include a cover page with:
- The title of your Note;
- A 250 word or less abstract, single-spaced, which briefly summarizes the argument of your Note;
- A list of the five sources cited that are most related to your work;
- The word count of your Note.
- Please use a binder clip rather than a staple to secure your work.
Submission Procedure
University of Virginia School of Law Students:
- In a sealed letter envelope with your Note Title on the outside, submit a single page that includes:
- Your name;
- Your phone number & e-mail address;
- Your mailing address;
- The title of your Note.
- Submit everything in one large manila envelope. The envelope need not be sealed if it is too full to do so. Submissions may be placed in the mailbox of the current Notes Development Editor. During Notes Pools, a box will also be available outside the VJIL office (2nd Floor Slaughter across from the Public Service Center).
Please feel free to contact vjilnotes@gmail.com with questions, but to maintain the integrity of the blind submissions process, please do not refer to the title of your Note in your e-mail.
Students from Other Schools:
You may submit your note and cover page to vjilnotes@gmail.com.
